I watched the series finale of Arrested Development again over the weekend, and I can’t stop laughing at Judge Reinhold’s court show Mock Trial with J. Reinhold and the show’s band “William Hung and His Hung Jury.”

I’ve begun to hate watching the men’s Olympic skiing events. Not because I don’t like skiing, but because of the voice. There’s some coach on that team who’s always yelling “you can do it” or “go get ‘em” or “come on, boy” at the players right before they start, and I can’t stand him.

Olympic Schedule
Bravo to NBC for showing a replay of the primetime Olympics block every night at 1:30 AM. It solves the problem of having to decide between watching the Olympics and other networks’ primetime shows, like 24, which is new tonight. Most of the time networks go for an all or nothing approach. Admitting that some people might not watch your show and showing a rerun that night lets those people see it,...

A reminder: the final four episodes of Arrested Development air tonight on Fox. If you hadn’t realized how much Fox inexplicably hates that show, witness that it will be directly competing with the Olympic opening ceremonies. In other words, two of television’s funniest hours all year will almost certainly lose ratings to two of television’s most boring.

Half-Life 2 Rube Goldberg Device
There are some things video games let you do in a perfect way that you couldn’t ever do in real life. Like, say, build a Rube Goldberg device that involves blowing things up and killing mutants.

Google Talk
With the coming integration of chat into Gmail, I figured I’d give Google Talk a whirl. Almost everyone uses AIM, I know, but if you want to catch me, I’ll be signed into Google Talk for a few days. My username is my email address. Using it so far for all of one chat, it’s a nice client. First, it’s simple, which is key. Second, I like the pop-up notification they use, at least on the Windows...

100 Best First Lines from Novels →
In high school, at academic team matches, if the category was “famous first lines,” we’d always buzz in before hearing the first question with the response, “Moby Dick.” Sometimes it was “A Tale of Two Cities,” but Moby Dick is a pretty good bet.
