I’ve be interested to see this. What I’m really curious about is why there are so few HD (720p) movies for sale in the iTunes Store. It’s got to be a restriction coming from the movie studios, but I don’t get the motivation. Do they have specific contracts with other HD providers that preclude offering downloads elsewhere? Are they doing it prevent Apple from being a bigger player in the video scene? I’ve definitely heard of movie studios not wanting Apple to call the shots the way they perceive it does with music, but then why offer video through iTunes at all? Most movies can be purchased in SD but only rented in HD. Maybe the studios really only want consumers to be renting movies, so they only offer HD as rentals to keep us from being able to buy them?
Apple could test limited iTunes HD+ 1080p movie service
