I dislike comiXology’s Guided View for exactly the reasons mentioned here. The problem is that the iPad’s screen is ever-so-slightly too small for the size of a modern comics page. Maybe the retina display models will be crisp enough that people don’ t feel the need to zoom in anymore.
At Baltimore Comic-Con last year I asked the guys at the comiXology booth about a theoretical retina display iPad. They said their source images weren’t sufficiently high resolution but seemed to hope the publishers would supply them with bigger files if the need arose. Now that it has, I’m curious to see if the comic files will get crisper.
